Neighborhood Transformation Strategy Sessions Coming
Are you tired of the reputation the City of Independence has had for the past 30+ years. Is your neighborhood deteriorating? Are the streets close to your house trashy and shaggy? Are you getting stirrings in your gut to do something that will really help your neighborhood turn around for the better?
For over 15 years I have initiated helpful projects in my own neighborhood. For the past three years, I have supervised the Neighborhood Transformation Team for the IIAW, Independence Is Alive and Well Initiative. We are very encouraged and see a noticeable change for the better in the neighborhoods and streets we work, with 40 – 80 volunteers each month, edging sidewalks, picking up trash, doing yard work, and serving widows.
We have learned a lot and our next step is to offer weekly training/strategy sessions for people who want to help their neighborhoods become safe, loving, and vibrant. Living Hope Church, 2425 S. Crysler Avenue, will be offering Neighborhood Transformation Strategy Sessions soon for anyone who wants to gain information and help.
The possibilities of ways to positively impact your neighborhood and city are as varied as there are people who want to help. I am convinced we can succeed if we come together, strategize a plan and organize ourselves. We all do neighborly things. Now we all can do a lot more, and be more effective, combining ideas and skills that will meet every need, or at least most of them.
I will let you know when the sessions will start. In the meantime, I am hosting weekly sessions at my studio, ELOAH Creative at 2425 S. Crysler Avenue, upper-level entrance, Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 7:30pm.
