Stop the Atherton Quarry
The city of Sugar Creek, MO is in the process of approving an open-pit strip mine/quarry on Courtney Atherton Rd. This will be adjacent to the homes of several church members. They plan to blast over the main aquifer that supplies the majority of Jackson County, which makes this issue important to everyone living in the area. The Planning and Zoning Committee for Sugar Creek will be meeting this coming Thursday, August 26, at 7 PM. They’ve had to move to a bigger location due to the number of people planning to come and speak against this. It will be held at Mike Onka Community Hall, 11520 Putnam Street, Sugar Creek, MO 64054. PLEASE come out to this meeting! We need the numbers.
We also need people to sign the petition against this quarry. Please sign the online petition at https://www.change.org/savesugarcreek. Please sign for each member of your household.
We’d also ask that you call/e-mail the Sugar Creek Mayor and Aldermen:
Mike Larson – Mayor mlarson@sugar-creek.mo.us 816-252-4400
JC “Chuck” Mikulich - Alderman First Ward cmikulich@sugar-creek.mo.us 816-252-4400, ext 1135
