FASTING, PRAYING, STUDYING AND LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD
AUGUST 12, 2021
To God's wonderful people around the world,
Greetings in the blessed name of Jesus Christ,
Today is Day 47 in our Ninety Day journey toward the Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) Fall Gathering on September 24-25, 2021. The scripture for today is 3 Nephi 5:8-17 where Jesus appeared to those gathered round bout the temple in the land Bountiful. Of course the entire chapter is always well worth the time to read and compare with Matthew 5-6.
Perhaps many of those saints were like those in II Corinthians 4:518 and 5:1. Maybe we, of today, are also like them with all the turmoil and uncertainty in the world. "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body."
However, when Jesus spoke to them and invited each of them to come forward and feel His wounds for themselves that they would know that He was the God of Israel and the God of the whole earth and was slain for the sins of the world, each one gained their own personal testimony that Jesus is our Savior. The hymn for today is 197 in the 2007 edition of Hymns of the Restoration, "Book of Mormon Testimony." Do you have a testimony of Jesus?
As we continue in our efforts of fasting, praying, and studying in order to live for the Kingdom of God, heed these words in verse four of the hymn. "May we now with faith and fervor share the witness of Thy son, tell the ancient gospel story till Thy will and work is done. Help us show its plainness, promise, lives that witness for the right..."
See if you can find, in the book of Mormon, three scriptures that refer to the three disciplines of fasting, prayer and study. They do not all have to be mentioned in the same scripture.
Also, if you have a testimony of your experiences with fasting, praying and studying, feel free to share them. Try to keep it to one/fourth of a page and send it to me in a separate email and not in response to this email. Paul Gage pauljg_64055@yahoo.com. If you have a longer testimony you might consider it for Tidings of Zion. You can send that to me also..
GOD IS GREATER:
Though the lion's den calls or a furnace of fire,
Our trust is in God, Whose power is higher,
Than everything the enemy may throw, In our spiritual disciplines we truly will show
That God is our Savior, Shepherd, and King
YEA!! HIS POWER IS GREATER THAN ANYTHING! AMEN!!.
God be with you,
Paul Gage
